There are usually a handful of familiar steps when creating any movie. These steps can help keep a film production focused, keep the story clear, and make the final product successful. Understanding some of those steps is a perfect way to understand a film camp partnership between Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) and Inclusion Films.

For an event 25 years in the making, the wait was well worth it for guests of Touro University California’s 25th Anniversary Gala, held August 25 outside Farragut Inn.

The 8th annual Social Justice in Public Health Lecture series kicks off from 5-7 pm, September 1 over Zoom. 

McDonald’s maybe. Or the local movie theater. Maybe bussing tables at a local restaurant. And then there was always babysitting. What was yours? First jobs are an initial step toward independence that are something of a right of passage for most teenagers. But sometimes circumstances conspire against the anxious and the willing. A pandemic can do that. So can a disability. 

There are many reasons students choose to come to Touro University California. For Junella Chin – now Dr. June Chin – there were three. First, she knew she wanted to practice osteopathic medicine. Second, she liked Touro’s reputation. And third, having grown up in the Bronx, New York, she, “needed to get out of the cold.”

In 1972, Timmy Thomas – African-American, one of 12-children, rising R&B singer – released a what would become an iconic anthem. In it, he asked:

“Tell me why, tell me why, tell me why, Why can’t we live together? Everybody wants to live together. Why can’t we live together?"

Fifty years later, and despite a slew of progress and change, a new generation continues to ask the same questions while continuing the fight for inclusion, understanding, and acceptance. 

VALLEJO - Touro University California took time Thursday to celebrate its College of Osteopathic Medicine following a piece of great news. The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) announced Thursday that it has awarded the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University California (TUC) and Touro University Nevada (TUN) “Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome,” according to a letter sent to the Deans of those respective programs.

Most people are probably familiar with the idea of ultrasound imaging providing a somewhat grainy glimpse of an unborn child to expecting, anxious parents. Ultrasound imaging, however, is being employed to a greater and greater extent to give physicians a look at more than just bundles of joy, including potentially life-threatening conditions that may require quick intervention.

Based on all of the toothpaste and mouthwash ads most people have seen, fluoride is a key to strong teeth, a beautiful smile, and a healthy mouth. Turns out those dental hygiene ads forgot one small thing: good oral health is a critical reflection of our overall health.
