Grace Landel, MEd, PA-C, DFAAPA

Professor Emeritus, PA/MPH (Vallejo)

Biography

I’ve worked in rural and urban family medicine and PA education. At the University of Washington MEDEX NW PA Program, I served as Director of Diversity, Director of the Alaska Satellite, Didactic and Clinical Coordinator, and Associate Program Director. I joined the Touro Joint MSPAS/MPH Program as Director in 2010, stepping down August 2021 to continue to teach and work on interprofessional education. I’ve been involved on the state level (Nebraska, Washington and California). Nationally, I’ve been active with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (Professional Practice Council Chair and liaison to the American Academy of Family Physicians), Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (Commissioner, Chair/Past Chair and site visitor), Physician Assistant Education Association (member of the Advisory Council on Minority Attrition/Retention and Minority Affairs Committee, National Recruitment Strategies Task Force Chair, Journal of Physician Assistant Education peer reviewer) and scholarship reviewer for the PA Foundation. I was a 2001 HRSA Bureau of Health Professions Primary Care Health Policy Fellow - group policy proposal “Inclusion of Oral Health in Primary Care”. I am interested in issues around social justice, diversity and access to care, recruitment of students from rural and under-resourced backgrounds, primary care training, oral health, service learning and interprofessional education
