In the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and healthcare fields, Medic recognizes the significance of gaining the community's confidence by prioritizing creating a diverse workforce. “People all talk about it and have these cool written programs, but it's just our life,” says Jim Pierson, president of Medic. “Our workforce very much matches the demographic of our community, which doesn't happen a lot in our field.”
Not only does that result in improved communication, but also genuine engagement with citizens, which is instrumental in fostering trust. Medic’s bilingual employees, some of whom are DACA recipients, play a vital role in bridging the gap and understanding the needs of everyday Californians and the local community members. The ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and Tagalog ensures seamless care for diverse families. They also take great pride in having a workforce comprised of 39% women, including some of the owners: Helen Pierson the mother, two sisters Sandy Pierson-Whaley and Cindy McBride, and cousin Kristi Kendall-Jones.

Their vision extends beyond their business as they partnered with the city of Fairfield and the Fairfield Fire Department to establish an EMS school. They offer free education to aspiring members of the healthcare workforce, aiming to enrich the diversity of their field further.
