Dr. Linda Banares

Dr. Linda Banares is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical and Social Pharmaceutical Sciences at Touro University California College of Pharmacy.

She teaches pharmacy students in the didactic portion of the curriculum and practices as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist with a focus in Anticoagulation at Kaiser Permanente. She also guest lectures in Clinical Therapeutics for the MSPAS Program at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Experience Spans Nation

Banares grew up in Portland, Oregon, and received her PharmD from Oregon State University/Oregon Health Sciences University. Eager to see best practices throughout the country, she completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, North Carolina, and her PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, Texas, before returning to the West Coast.

She is Board Certified in Ambulatory Care by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

The desire to become a medication expert motivated Banares to pursue a PharmD. Discovering a passion for chronic disease management in clinical settings motivated her to pursue ambulatory care as a specialty. The past 14 years of teaching remind her daily of the incredible impact students and new graduates have on the profession and the quality and growth of patient care services available.

Strives to Serve Community

Banares enjoys using the skills and confidence she has gained in pharmacy and teaching to improve her local community in disability awareness and advocacy for special education. Having a son who is disabled, she has come to realize that the experiences and challenges she worked through in pharmacy school, post-graduate training, and career development have shaped who she is, now better and more equipped to serve and advocate for others in all settings.

She says she is grateful to the Touro community for being a great place to learn and grow from one another.
