Former Rep. Berkley takes job at Touro University

LAS VEGAS - Former Nevada Congresswoman Shelley Berkley has been named chief of the Nevada and California campuses of Touro University.

The nonprofit Jewish-sponsored higher education system announced the hire Wednesday.

Berkley served as a Democrat in Congress from 1999 to 2013 and narrowly lost a 2012 bid for Senate to Republican contender Dean Heller.
