Touro University gets Intel grant
FAIRFIELD — Touro University California on Mare Island is one of 10 universities in the nation to be awarded an American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education grant for digital learning.
The grant, funded by Intel, will help create online learning modules and digital learning tools to be used in credential and master’s programs. Touro officials said it’s hard to put a value on the grant, but that it includes $10,000 for travel, training and collaboration time and unlimited access to Intel Teach Learning Modules.
Pamela Redmond, Karen Yoder and Justin Heard of Touro University will travel to Orlando, Fla., to join the Intel Teach Affiliates and collaborate in the newly formed learning community. The grant is designed to create models of implementation for other teacher preparation programs in California and the nation, a Touro press release said.
