FAIRFIELD — The Greater Vallejo Recreation District and Global Center for Success are the beneficiaries of a 5-kilometer run that is part of the Mare Island Fall Festival on Oct. 13.

The race, now in its seventh year, gets underway at 9 a.m. This year’s goal is to raise at least $10,000 for charity and have 500 runners and walkers.

The annual fundraiser is led by Touro University California’s student chapter of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine at Touro University on Mare Island.

Participants will run around the island with the start and finish in the lower Main Touro University California parking lot, 1310 Club Drive.

The day will also include a golf tournament, the historic Naval Hospital at Mare Island talk and tour from Dr. Tom Snyder, an open house at the Global Center for Success, Navy cemetery tour, lost boats of Mare Island memorial service and opportunities to visit the Mare Island Museum.
