Vallejo vets raise money to put signs on Purple Heart Trail

VALLEJO — The American Legion Post is trying to raise money by March 31 to install highway markers along its portion of the Purple Heart Trail that runs through Vallejo along Interstate 80.
Nestor Aliga, of the American Legion Post No. 603, estimates it will cost $6,000 to
put up the signs at the Hunter Hill Rest Area and at Sonoma Boulevard. I-80 and I-5
were designated by the state to be part of the National Purple Heart Trail System.
Aliga said he hopes to unveil the signs on Memorial Day.
