Touro University is hosting a special presentation on transforming school culture and boosting student learning and success through creation of healthy environments.

The event features education consultant Anthony Muhammad and will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in Lander Hall on the Mare Island campus.

An educational practitioner for nearly 20 years, Muhammad has served as a middle school teacher, assistant principal and principal, as well as a high school principal.

His most notable accomplishment was as principal of Levey Middle School in Southfield, Mich., where student proficiency on state assessments more than doubled in five years.

A question and answer session will follow Muhammad's talk. The event is free and open to the public.

Vallejo City Unified School District Superintendent Ramona Bishop said district officials have studied Muhammad's work and believes it will resonate with community partners and the work to provide good learning environments for all students.
