Solano County and Touro Partner for Community Health Care

Vallejo News, December 7, 2012 (Issue 54)

Touro University California and Solano County recently initiated a partnership that combines healthcare services.  The partnership allows an academic team of physicians to join with the County's community health care clinics to better serve the community.  The new partnership is located at the Solano County administrative offices on Tuolumne Street in Central Vallejo.

"This partnership exemplifies how public and private entities can work together to identify and address community issues, such as expanding healthcare services to Solano County residents," said Bela T. Matyas, MD, MPH, Solano County Health Officer and Deputy Director Solano Public Health.

Touro joined Solano County Health & Social Services, Solano Public Health, Family Health Services' clinic earlier this year to provide adult and pediatric primary care services in Fairfield, Vacaville and Vallejo.

In addition to Touro expanding the capacity of the clinics to provide primary care, the clinics serve as a teaching environment to prepare Touro medical and physician assistant students to meet the healthcare and education demands of the future.  Touro's campus is located on Mare Island in Vallejo.
