Since October is American Pharmacists Month, Touro University California is joining with other pharmacy organizations around the world in celebrating pharmacists and their contributions to health care and their communities, officials announced this week.
To help kick off the celebration, Solano County Board of Supervisor Linda Seifert, District 2, will present a proclamation on the steps of the College of Pharmacy, 1310 Club Drive, Mare Island, on the campus at noon, Wednesday.
“We’re honored to participate in American Pharmacists Month as a way to recognize the work our pharmacists do to counsel and assist patients on a daily basis,” said Dr. Rae Matsumoto, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, in a university press release. “This is a wonderful example for our future student pharmacists as they begin to take an active part in the pharmaceutical treatment of their patients in the communities we serve.”
Wednesday’s event kicks off a month of pharmacy events, including immunizations, pharmacy seminars, alumni highlights, and an open house on Oct. 23, officials added.
