Free diabetes education workshop begins Monday in Vallejo

Vallejo residents are invited to attend a free workshop on diabetes education, organized by Touro University California.

The seven-week workshop starts Monday and will be conducted in both English and Spanish. Classes are run by Touro’s Student-Run Free Clinic and will focus on diabetes management and education.

Topics covered will include glucometer use, diabetic foot care, diet and nutrition, medications, stress management and how to get more from your doctor’s visit. An optional week will cover insulin use or how to quit smoking.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and one resident and a family member can register for free.

Diabetes Education classes will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Norman C. King Community Center, 545 Magazine St., Vallejo.
