Fundraising walk in Vallejo on Sunday for March of Dimes

Touro University California and Kaiser Permanente are hosting a walk for March of Dimes this Sunday on Mare Island.

The two organizations are looking to raise money for March for Babies, a fundraiser to improve the health of babies by funding research that looks into premature births and other health problems facing newborns.

The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Touro campus outside Lander Hall, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. This is the first time the city is hosting this event.

“We are very excited to host the March for Babies Fun Walk on our campus, which falls in line with our mission to promote healthy lives in our community and beyond,” Dr. Marilyn Hopkins, Provost and COO of Touro University California, said in a released statement. “Addressing child health challenges is an important cause and we’re pleased to work with Kaiser Permanente to bring awareness in these efforts.”

Snacks and beverages will be provided to those participating and the school will offer health information, music and raffles for those at the walk. Parking will be available at 1322 Cosset Street, near the campus library.

Organizers are suggesting a $10 donation to participate. For more information or to donate to the cause, visit www.marchforbabies.org/team/TUC2015.
