Overview
The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Touro University Nevada enhances the preparation and abilities of nurses with backgrounds in clinical practice or a systems/aggregate focus, while providing a non-research intensive option for obtaining a terminal nursing degree. Students complete required core courses and a flexible practice component that tailors the program towards specialty interests in clinical practice, health policy, informatics, administration or a population-based specialty focus. The program consists of a minimum of 39 semester credits of work, which can be completed in as little as five semesters of full-time study. Part-time options are also available. Time on campus is minimized through a distance education delivery model and new students may enroll in July, November, or March each year.
Please contact the Coordinator of Graduate Nursing Programs at susan.ullrich@tun.touro.edu for more information.
Delivery Model
Geographical barriers to student success are reduced by delivering coursework through four onsite intensive sessions for full-time students. One three-day on-campus session is required during the first, second, and third semesters. The remainder of the course content will be delivered through synchronous and asynchronous online learning. An initial three-day orienation session is also required at the beginning of the first semester.
The practice and research components of the program are structured for completion within the individual’s geographical area. The use of teleconferencing, videoconferencing, and electronic mail will be used throughout the program.
Tuition
Tuition, as of 07/01/2009 is $650 per semester credit for part-time or full-time students. The cost of books will be additional.
Students are eligible for Federal Student Loan programs through TUN and may be eligible for other forms of Financial Aid. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
