PUBLIC HEALTH HERO AWARDS: Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the award is to honor students, faculty and community members who have demonstrated significant contributions and commitment to public health service and research. This year the Public Health Hero Award is aligned with Public Health Week. Email info@tucaphp.org for a nomination form, information on selection criteria, and eligibility. The deadline to submit nominations for the Public Hero Award is Friday, April 2, 2010.

SPRING 2010 GLOBAL CENTER FOR SUCCESS WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: February 17 - April 28, 2010. Public Health Program faculty regularly provide one-hour weekly seminars on relevant topics such as Diabetes Prevention & Treatment, Substance Abuse, STD Prevention, Hygiene & Scabies, Hypertension Reduction Strategies, Nutrition, Exercise and Fitness, Tuberculosis, Dental Health/Oral Hygiene to complement the life skills development offered to clients of the Global Center for Success (GCS). The primary mission of the GCS is to provide supportive programs to a diverse population, including the homeless, the underserved and the poor through training and education, job development and employment readiness assistance, transitional and permanent housing services, and personal development services to promote wholeness and self-sufficiency.

4TH ANNUAL COUNTY OF SOLANO EDUCATION FAIR: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the County Administration Center, Fairfield, CA from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.. The fair will be open to all employees of the County of Solano.

21st ANNUAL CALIFORNIA FORUM FOR DIVERSITY IN GRADAUTE EDUCATION: Saturday, April 17, 2010 at California State University, Channel Islands, Camarillo, CA. The Public Health Program will attend the recruiter fair held in conjunction with the Forum from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

GENETECH EDUCATION FAIR: Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Genetech Vacaville Campus from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The fair will be open to all Genetech employees.
