The XIth Annual International Health Conference, "Achieving Global Health: A Dream or Reality” will take place Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Touro University-CA, Mare Island, Vallejo CA. The process of globalization has intensified over the last two decades by way of liberalization of trade and open markets. Parallel to it the accelerated progress of new technologies and easy mobility has linked and reduced distant places of the globe, hence creating global community or "global village" with common socio-economic ties, common social and cultural features and above all common health challenges. These developments have a profound effect on the determinants and unequal outcomes of health.

On the positive side there is also rising awareness among nations both rich and poor about the need to reduce the gaps of health outcomes between the developed and the developing countries, and to address social and economic aspect of health determinants in addition to the biologic, environmental and genetic factors globally. This conference will attempt to treat the issues from various angles: the definition, history, challenges and achievements of global health and the future search for new ideas and new approaches to make the globe healthy for all.
