Welcome to the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine! As you learn more about the history of Osteopathic Medicine, you will find that we are the eighteenth college of osteopathic medicine formed in the United States. Since our inception in 1996, we have grown from our original location in San Francisco to Mare Island which is located in the city of Vallejo. This idyllic and tranquil location provides a beautiful stage for the acquisition of knowledge, personal growth and leadership development. In the Fall of 2004, our new branch campus of the College of Osteopathic Medicine opened in Henderson, Nevada providing osteopathic medical education in the southwestern states.
TUCOM is committed to the education of our students following the tenets of both osteopathic and traditional allopathic medicine. Our evolving curriculum focuses on a strong basic science foundation with early integration of clinical science. The faculty is committed to our students and the process of innovative educational strategies.
TUCOM provides distinctive osteopathic health care to the community through several clinic operations within one community. These clinics serve as training sites for students within the early clinical experiential curriculum and required clerkships.
Our Department of Osteopathic Medicine is comprised of highly skilled practitioners and prides itself in the focused development of manipulative medicine skills for our students.
As the college grows, we continue to invest in our faculty and the opportunity to expand the knowledge of science. Focused research efforts within the college include AIDS, diabetes, obesity, and osteopathic manipulative therapy. As new labs are created, opportunities increase for student engagement in research and for collaborative relationships with the local universities and biotechnology facilities.
We look forward to your future inquiries regarding our campus and invite you to visit our campus and watch our growth and innovative new programs.
