The College of Education at Touro University California partners with schools and districts that focus on continuous renewal, have a history of improving student achievement, and welcome the opportunity to mentor new colleagues into the education profession. We constantly seek to expand the network of schools with which we work and invite you join us in preparing tomorrow's teachers. Experienced classroom teachers at the secondary and elementary levels are eligible to become Supervising Teachers and host a student teacher in their classroom based on the following criteria:
Possess a teaching credential appropriate to the grade/subject
Have experienced success in the profession and with the student population at the school site
Have taught for a minimum of three years
Possess effective communication skills and appreciate the importance of collaboration
Demonstrate positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Understand how to build a classroom community
Use standards-based instruction and assessment practices
Encourage and practice professional reflection
Are supported by their school site administrator or designee
Supervising Teachers are awarded continuing education units by the College of Education in Leadership and Supervision based on their work with student teachers.
